The b&w conversion was done in Lighroom 3 beta 2 using the “High contrast b&w” preset and adding some additional grain.

I found you blog through Kirk Tuck. Great blog! My son is a professional photographer (Canon) but I guess I’m not a “mainstream” sort of person. I bought an E-Pl1. Loved the output but had a hard time seeing in the sunlight so I took it back. I miss the camera though. If the monitor on the E-Pl2 isn’t as bright I might have to repurchase the E-Pl1 or wait for a more “pro body” with two dials and an integral evf. I have never heard of the Pentax 25,1.4. Very interesting! Speaking of Pentax, I have also been waiting since the K7 for an improved camera that had to come based on the K–x’s performance. The staining issue is a real disappointment. I find myself wondering about staining with the Nikon D7000 or the new Sony. Why only Pentax? Any thoughts?

have you tried the VF-2 with the E-PL1? From what I heard it’s agreat addition! Also, the external VF keeps the size down when you don’t need it. An internal VF will always make the whole body larger.
The Pentax 25/1.4 is a lens for CCTV cameras. You can find it new on B&H (use this link) or used on eBay. New price is around $100, used prices < $ 50. These lenses are very fun to use with MFT cameras!
I read briefly about the staining issues with the new K-5 – I have no idea why that happens only with Pentax cameras, if the sensor is the same in the D7000 and Alpha 55. Maybe it was one single lot with this problem, and the whole lot went to Pentax? In this case it could've happened with Nikon or Sony as well, just bad luck for Pentax.
