This is the accompanying gallery to my report on the Photokina 2010. Here, you can find all the impressions I gathered at this year’s Photokina which are not related to a specific manufacturer or product. All pictures were taken either with the Olympus E-P1 and Lumix 20/1.7, or with the Leica M8 and Nokton 50/1.5.

Just bikes.

Bikes. Bicycles, Scooters, Motorcycles – they come in all shapes and colours, and they can be found anywhere. In cities, on the countryside, inside buildings … They can be dirt cheap or insanely expensive. They can be brand new or terribly battered. In some countries, they’re the primary means of transportation. But above all, bikes are everywhere. In fact, they’re so common we often don’t realize they’re even there, and thus might overlook an interesting scene. In the summer of 2006, I spent six weeks at an excavation at Kayalıpınar (“Rocky Springs”), Sivas, Turkey. The department of archaeology of the university of Marburg, Germany is excavating a Hittite settlement there, and I had the opportunity to join them and experience an archaeological excavation first-hand. Of course this time was accompanied by many many impressions, which I captured with my Panasonic Lumix FZ30. Some of them I would like to share with you in this gallery.

Graffiti (singular: graffito; the plural is used as a mass noun) is the name for images or lettering scratched, scrawled, painted or marked in any manner on property. Graffiti is any type of public markings that may appear in the forms of simple written words to elaborate wall paintings.

In late december 2009, my dear friend Erik from Boston came to Germany for a visit, and we met in Cologne. One thing we did was visiting the cathedral, and of course we couldn’t resist taking a bunch of snaps
