Off-topic: Internet down on April 1st? Yeah, sure …

German news portal tagesschau.de are being smart and try to convince us the IPv4 system was exhausted – so the internet had to be shut down for the day in order to upgrade ICANN’s servers to IPv6. I see …

If there ever was an April fool’s joke as transparent as this …

Oh, and you can find an English translation here.

Ecosia – the green search engine

Ecosia is a new, green, eco-friendly search engine. For every search query, approx. 2 sqm of tropical rainforest are saved. Ecosia is being supported by Yahoo and Bing, they run their servers 100% on green electricity and they donate 80% of their advertising revenues to a WWF project saving tropical rainforests wordlwide.
So far, 35.377.780 sqm of tropical rainforest have already been saved, according to Ecosia.

You can make Ecosia your default search engine and thus help making the world a better place!

Off-topic: Amazon do care for their customers!

This has nothing to do with photography, but I still wanted to share this little episode with you.

For weeks now I’ve been getting eMails from Amazon, telling me that there was a payment on my Amazon Marketplace seller’s account which they would like to transfer to my bank accout. Since I couldn’t remember ever having such an account, nor ever selling anything via Amazon Marketplace, I ignored those eMails until yesterday, when I decided to write to Amazon and ask them why they kept sending me those messages.

It turned out that back in 2002 I actually did sell something via Marketplace, namely a CD by Glenn Gould, for 9,49 €, and that the money had indeed never been transferred to my bank account.
Funny, huh? After seven and a half years they get back to me to mell me they owe me ten bucks :-) But at least this shows that they thoroughly keep track of the transactions being made via their platform, and that they care about everything going the right way!

P.S.: I’m working on my review of the Cosmicar/Pentax 25/1.4, so expect it soon!
