Panasonic Lumix G2 and Samsung EX1/TL500 reviewed by dpreview

Finally! A lot of people have been eagerly awaiting this review, and now it’s finally here. Since yesterday, the dpreview review of Panasonic’s latest mid-range Micro Four Thirds model, the Lumix G2, is online.

Personally, I’m not overly interested in Panasonic’s G-series. Maybe this will change in the future when more interesting models come … But what’s definitely interesting about the G2 is its 3″ twist-and-tilt touchscreen LCD, which allows for some rather intuitive operation of the camera.

To find out how the G2 to fares, and how it compares to both its predecessor, the G1, and to its smaller sibling, the G10, read the review!

Sometime last week, dpreview also published their review of the Samsung EX1/TL500, on which I reported ealier. Don’t miss that as well!

Samsung EX1/TL500: two reviews

Samsung’s alleged LX3 killer, the EX1 (TL500 in some regions) has recently been reviewed twice. Once by CNet Asia, and once by PhotographyBLOG.

Just as Panasonic’s LX3, the EX1 is an enthusiast’s compact, a camera for those who want the best possible quality and greatest possible versatility to carry around in their pocket. What makes it so dangerous to the LX3 is that it ups pretty every spec of its contender: It’s got a faster lens (f/1.8 vs. f/2), greater focal range (24-72mm vs. 24-60mm), a better, tilt/swivel display (AMOLED, 920k pixels vs. 460k pixels), etc. etc.

But can it compete in terms of image quality (both lens and sensor), pocketability and ease-of-use? Will it be the new enthusiast’s compact? Well, read the reviews to find out!
