Picture of the day (January 4, 2011)

The first Potd post for this year!

I’ve been having some fun with my Cosmicar/Pentax 25/1.4 C-mount lens on the E-P1 again these past days. What an enjoyable combination, I had totally forgotton how much fun this was! Here’s a picture for you bokeh cravers :-)

Olympus E-P1 + Cosmicar/Pentax 25/1.4 @ f/1.4, 1/15 sec, ISO 200

I really miss an option in the E-P1 to set a min. shutter speed before the next higher ISO value is chosen. Especially with legacy lenses which don’t communicate focal length information, the camera opts for shutter speeds around 1/60 to 1/100 sec, unnecessarily cranking up the ISO where shots could be taken as low as 1/20 sec thanks to the in-camera image stabilizer. I wrote an email to Olympus with this and several other suggestions for a future firmware update, but got no answer naturally.
