PAD-Project: Week #3, Picture #2

Oh, that little 15/4.5 Heliar is a bi*** … sorry for these profanities. But it’s a tough little lens to shoot, if you’re not in the city jungle or in a national park … finding scenes suited for wide angle photography just isn’t as easy as I had imagined! So, because I really didn’t know what to do today, I decided to do something that wasn’t obvious: shoot a flower! I’m not sure it worked out, but it was worth the experiment. Let’s see what I can find tomorrow …

PAD-Project: Week #3, Picture #1

Off into the third week of my PAD project! This week, I am going to shoot my Voigtländer Super Wide Heliar 15/4.5 — the new M-mount version with rangefinder coupling and 52mm filter thread. I bought this lens for christmas last year and was using it extensively during our winter holidays. But I’m still not very confident in using it, as it’s simply sooo wide (considering my preferred “allround” focal length is 35 or 40mm). All the more reason to use it more and to find out what I can do with it, and what not.

Today’s PAD was taken on my way home from work. Thanks to Daylight Saving Time the sun had only just begun to set when I went home, and I could take this beautifully lighted shot of a construction site (one of the many around here).

PAD-Project: Week #2, Picture #7

This is the end of week 2! Here’s a little “still-life” shot on our way to the playground. I liked the rural look of this scene, which reminded me a bit of the village where we’ve been living for the past three years.

PAD #14 | "Still-life with shoes" | Leica M8 + Biogon 28/2.8 @ f/2.8, 1/500 sec, ISO 160

Next PAD week will be shot using the 15/4.5 Heliar, which will again force me to actively look for suiting subjects.

PAD-Project: Week #2, Picture #6

Ah, today was not a day for photography. It was overcast, chilly and windy. No weather to go for a walk, or to the playground, or do anything outside for that matter. Also, overcast meant no light to work with. Just dreary grey. So I didn’t really take any interesting pictures today, just some meaningless (well, for most of you, anyways) family snaps.
This one was taken when Emil and I returned from shopping. He was being naggy, but when I made faces for him, his nagging mixed with laughing, and this is what it looked like:

PAD #13 | "Conflicting moods" | Leica M8 + Biogon 28/2.8 @ f/2.8, 1/45 sec, ISO 160

Oh, and: This little 28 Biogon is fantastic! I haven’t had this much fun with a lens since … I think since I bought the little 20/1.7 pancake for my E-P1. Seriously! And I’m happy to note that speed hasn’t been an issue so far :-)

PAD-Project: Week #2, Picture #5

Again a PAD picture in vertical alignment! :-) Emil and I went for a walk through parts of the city we hadn’t visited before, and came through a very nice and quiet neighbourhood with lots of expensive looking houses. One of them had this beautifully blooming bush in their front garden, and I just had to take a picture of it.

PAD #12 | "Blooming bush #2" | Leica M8 + Biogon 28/2.8 @ f/2.8, 1/750 sec, ISO 160

Also: man, those Zeiss colours rock! 😉
