This is where the water in our house comes from. Sort of. You get the idea …
It seems I did again accidentally stop down to f/2 when I took the camera out of my suitcase. The aperture ring of my Nokton really does run smoothly … 😛

This is where the water in our house comes from. Sort of. You get the idea … It seems I did again accidentally stop down to f/2 when I took the camera out of my suitcase. The aperture ring of my Nokton really does run smoothly … 😛 Heavy labour being conducted at a local grocery store. I have no idea what they’re doing — if they intend to make the store larger, if they’re building a new parking lot, or if they’re preparing the place for building another store. However, some big shovels are lying about there. And huge piles of dirt. A place to revisit, photographically speaking P.S.: I’m pretty sure this was taken at f/1.5, despite what the EXIF says. “Chevy American Diner” — a piece of America in the middle of Germany. This American-styled restaurant is on my way to work, so I come by it twice daily. I’ve been wanting to go there for some time and try their burgers, but somehow I didn’t get around to yet. They claim they have the “BEST RIBS AND BURGER IN TOWN”. Well, we’ll see P.S.: I tried to process this picture in colour, but the lighting was just too difficult to get it look right. And yes, I know the composition isn’t the most creative … I’ve got a feeling I’m going to give the subject a couple more tries So this is it! As I announced last week, I have started my PAD project today. My first camera-lens-combination to use for one week straight is the Leica M8 + Voigtländer Nokton 50/1.5. So far, the Nokton has been my lens for portraiture and close-up shots, and I regularly used it on purpose, i.e. when I knew what I was going to shoot. Carrying the lens with my all week, I am not going to know what I will shoot, so I have to be looking out for subjects that fit the Noktons field-of-view. Here’s my very first picture for this project, which I took on my way to work today. I had noticed this blooming bush earlier today when I went shopping with Emil, but had forgotten to take the camera with me. I took two more candidate pictures today, but this one was my favourite, so it made it to PAD #1! I had intended to shoot this wide open, but it seems I accidentally closed the aperture down to f/2.4-ish. As this was taken at the close-focusing limit of the Nokton (0.9 metres), d-o-f is still very thin at this aperture. Also note that there is almost no vignetting, whereas at f/1.5 the lens vignettes quite noticeably. (I added some very slight vignetting in post, though.) P.S.: I believe today’s Picture-of-the-day was the shortest ever to be sticky on the front-page! A new record! Yesterday in the afternoon, we went for a walk through the new neightbourhood, looking for a playground. On the way, we came by this angry face. P.S.: This may well be my last Picture-of-the-day post for a while, as today I am starting my announded Picture-A-Day project. The PAD posts will not be featured on the main page of my blog — you will have to open to the “PAD-Project” category to see the posts. EDIT: I just installed a plug-in to exclude the PAD-Prjoject category from the main page. However, I will feature each current PAD picture as a sticky post on the front page, like I do (did) with each current Picture-of-the-day post. |
