Hi there, I’m back from vacations and brought with me a huuuge pile of pictures that wait to be processed. But as we are about to move to a new flat, I probably won’t have time to go through all of them before march. So please be patient
But here’s a little teaser for you, one picture I already processed. It’s showing our traditional vacational spot, Nassereith (Tyrolia, Austria) in a snowy winter scene.

When I find the time this week, I’ll also post a little recap on all the interesting news from the last two weeks. So long!
Before I head off into my well-deserved vacations (;-)), I wanted to present you with one last p-o-t-d. This one is from december, when we visited my wife’s aunt in Zons am Rhein. I’m having a thing recently with architectural shots since I got that 15/4.5, and especially with old little run-down garden sheds and other types of barns and huts. I think I’ll create a new gallery soon with this type of pictures.

I did a little pseudo-HDR treatment to this by lifting the shadows considerably. I like the outcome with that strong contrast between the orange of the bricks and the rust, and the blue of the sky (which I darkened a bit to make it more obvious). I also added some vignetting. This was taken without UV/IR filter.
I think I’m getting the hang of that Super Wide-Heliar! Here’s a picture from yesterday, taken on my way to work. This building is adjacent to the parking lot at Marburg’s central train station, and I come by it each day. I love this early-twentieth-century architecture with those little towers and the brick walls, which make it look almost like a castle. I also love the mix of colours — yellow, orange, maroon and green. (I should take this picture again with bluer skies, I think!) By the dirt on the walls and roof you can tell the house’s age, but that makes it look all the more interesting.

Processed in Lightroom 3.2, where I did some things to colour and contrast, and straightened the angles. Or would you prefer an unstraightened version?
I took these pictures back in december when we were visiting my father. He’s quite good on the piano, albeit his practicing far to rarely. I took the opportunity (and the favourable light) to grab a few snaps of his shiny black Yamaha piano that gets so little attention most of the time …

After all the masses of snow had melted away, the fields between our and the neighboring villages were completely flooded with water, looking like a giant lake. When I was walking the weirs with Emil, we came by a flock of birds in a nearby tree. Only later I noticed that one of them was flying into the frame when I shot this picture …
