PAD #85 | “Nighttime phone booth”

On my way back home from the department’s annual christmas party. I hadn’t had a chance to take a picture all day, so this sparsely illuminated phone booth came just right. I tried to develop it in colour first, but found it didn’t work so well.

  • Good one. And I agree – night skies illuminated by city and street lights are mostly ugly. Night skies out of “civilisation” are beautiful. Plus you have so many different Kelvin temperatures from those lights that sometimes it’s hard to decide which white balance would be correct; maybe there is no “correct” one.

    • Difficult lighting often asks for b&w conversion, at least that’s my experience. And in b&w it can create an interesting look, depending on white- and colour balance.
