Olympus E-P2 now in silver/black

Via dpreview.com. Olympus have just announced that the E-P2 will also be available in silver/black from mid-May. So far, outside of Japan the E-P2 was only available in full black. Interestingly, when the E-P2 was first announced, Japanse websites also showed a sliver model with a brown grip – possibly to disambiguate it from the silver E-P1. Since the E-P1 has been discontinued, I guess Olympus aren’t afraid anymore the two cameras could be confused by anyone.

I like that silver/black design a lot more anyways, since it can be pimped so nicely with one of these black leatherette body kits! :-)

Picture of the day (May 7, 2010)

This was taken this morning on my way to work. When I first saw it, I thought “Is it dead?” But it was only sleeping :-) I never saw a sleeping dove before, and what struck me most is that it was sitting right next to a road with heavy traffic – yet it didn’t seem to be bothered at all.

"Sleeping dove" | Olympus E-P1 + Lumix 20/1.7 @ f/1.7, 1/400 sec, ISO 200

Oh, and I looove f/1.7! Looks so 3D because I was so close up …

In other news, that item I need for the Nokton 35/1.4 to go with has been purchased and shipped, I expect it to arrive either tomorrow or monday. So stay tuned for some exciting news! 😀

The Nokton 35/1.4 arrived

Today I received a small package containing a Voigtländer Nokton Classic MC 35mm f/1.4 M-mount lens (I had originally wanted the SC version, but it was sold out at that dealer). I ordered it in anticipation of another item I intended to purchase (and hoped to receive today), but the deal was called off, unfortunately. Or maybe fortunately, since the seller may not have had the most honest intentions …

Anyways, I received the Nokton, and I was really surprised at how miniscule this lens is. I mean, I knew it was going to be small – but not that small! It’s not much larger than my Lumix 20/1.7, but a lot heavier as it is built from solid metal – it easily weighs as much as the E-P1 alone! (The specs say 200g, but I had both front and rear cap on it which might have added to its weight.) It seems really well built, the focusing and aperture rings run smoothly and are conveniently operated by protruding levers.

The lens looks and feels fabulous in its shiny, tiny blackness. I can hardly wait to bring it to action – but then again, I still have to wait for that other item to go with it …

Article on CCTV lenses for MFT at The Phoblographer

The Phoblographer has written a small article on CCTV lenses for Micro Four Thirds, mentioning, among others, the new Noktor 50/0.95 HyperPrime and the legendary Cosmicar/Pentax 25/1.4. They have also included a list of CCTV lenses which they recommend to any MFT user who likes to shoot manual.
