Dandelions! Or is it dandelia? Or dandeliones? Whatever.
The first picture is straight out-of-camera, with only some minor tweaking in curves and color applied. The second one is from RAW and was heavily processed, as you will see. I like both!
Oh, and Amy, this was by no means intentional!

Carl Weese has written a very interesting article about making Platinum/Palladium prints, which was published at The Online Photographer. In his article, he meticulously explains the technique he uses and goes deeply into detail of the whole process, from preparation up to completion. Each step described is also being visualized in an accompanying slide-show, which makes the whole process even more comprehensible. Although personally I’m by no means into the matter of printing, I very much enjoyed reading this article, as it is written so that even the noobiest novice can understand. Also, it makes you grasp how much Carl enjoys his work.
The resulting prints look absolutely fabulous, and you can still (but only until friday, 30th of April 2010!) order one via TOP for $180 (with which you will also help Carl and TOP keep up their great work!) So if you’re interested, grab this opportunity as long as it lasts!
Max Marinucci has yet again written a guest article about film for Steve Huff’s website, this time about the discontinued Kodachrome 25 slide film, whose remaining stocks will seize to be processed by the end of the year. He also generally reflects on film, what it means for him personally and how it relates to time (his article could thus fall under the topic of Diachronic Filmosophy).
A very interesting yet somehow melancholic article, but definitely worth a read! (Link)
neutralday report of a new feature which is going to be implemented in Adobe Camera RAW version 6 and Adobe Photoshop Lightroom version 3. This is actually a thing I have been missing from Lightromm so far, so I’m glad it’s finally going to be implemented.
The new versions of ACR and LR will offer various correction routines for lens imperfections such as distortion, vignetting and chromatic aberrations. It looks like there will be a database with camera+lens combinations and the corresponding parameters needed to apply the corrections. Also, neutralday report that users may have the possibility of creating their own camera+lens profiles in case their very combination is not implemented in the database.
In their news post you can also find a video showing how the new functions are being applied.
… with Panasonic. My 20/1.7 is still not back – I had brought it to my dealer due to dirt intrusions over two weeks ago. The only word from Panasonic was a few days later that the guarantee certificate was missing – which was sent to them by mid-week the week before last week. Their luck I don’t need that lens professionally …
In response to what I wrote in a footnote in the post linked to above, I don’t think I’m interested in that R8 offered to me by my dealer. Mainly because it’s too much money for a camera that’s huge and bulky and I wouldn’t be using much, and secondarily because for one I have that marvelous Yashica Electro 35 GT for film shooting, and also I’m now officially saving for an M8. Yes, that’s right. I just have to have one …
